About this Form

Only use this form to apply for an IRD number if you’re a non-resident or offshore person.

When to use this form

An offshore person is someone who:

• is a New Zealand citizen who has been overseas for the last three or more years continuously (and is not currently in New Zealand), or
• doesn’t have a New Zealand residence visa granted by Immigration New Zealand, or
• has a New Zealand residence class visa and has been overseas for the last twelve months continuously (and is not currently in New Zealand).
