Child support – estimating your income

Form Number: IR151 / Form Code: IR151

About this Guide

Information on how, if you are a paying parent, you can estimate your income.

When to use this guide

If your income drops by 15% or more compared to the income used for your assessment, you may be able to estimate your income for child support.

What you will need

You need to either write a letter or complete our Estimate of income for child support assessment (IR104) form.

We need to receive this before the end of the child support year for which it applies.

You need to include:

  •  your estimate of how much you expect to earn for the whole child support year (1 April to 31 March)
  •  evidence to support your estimation – for example, pay slips or, if you’re self-employed, a letter from your accountant.
